About the Artist

Picture of Wanda

Ms. Edwards is a former elementary and middle school art teacher, having taught children at a private school in Fall River for several years. She found this to be an inspiring addition to her life. The fun and spontaneity of the creation of art is something she took part in with the children and this was happily carried over into her own work. "It?s sheer abandon. Watching this has given me new energy in the way I approach my own work. I feel I?ve evolved into someone who can paint with all the knowledge I?ve gained through the years along with the freedom of a child to have fun".

As a result, she has found a great mix between realism & impressionism.

Wanda attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating from their Scientific and Technical Illustration dept. It is this technical training that also draws her to some of the local architecture. Her passion for watercolor combined with architecture merge together in paintings of local buildings and scenes.

Ms. Edwards has also studied botanical illustration with well know artist Jane Neroni as well as internationally known artist Bente Starke King who teaches at Cornell University.

Wanda also worked for a number of years as an in-house artist painting on porcelain at Sherle Wagner International.

She is a member of the Westport Art Group and the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators as well as a long time member of the Fall River Art Association.
